a diverse method of being airborne

I was strapped to the boat on one end and to a big colorful balloon on the other. As the balloon flew, so did I. from a seated position at the boat’s rear end, I started to float. I was lifted up and flew higher and higher. I about two minutes, I reached a height of over 100 meters. I was holding on to the harness and tried to let go for a few seconds. I felt so light. The wind was blowing at me but ever so gently, with the big balloon behind protecting me from the strong winds. I was advised not to look directly below. I needed to keep a posture like I was sitting on a chair; only this time I wasn’t I was perched on the strap of a harness.

The sky was at eye level and there was no blinding glare as the balloon served as a giant umbrella. I had a 360-degree view of Boracay Island – an endless expanse of blue-green water, the mountain and the white sand beach. Parasailing is one of the extreme sports offered on the island. At the price of P1,200 per person. You get to parasail for 15 miutes. But priceless is the experience of flying like a comic book superhero, with the chance to defy gravity and the natural high it gives. A maximum of three persons can parasail at the same time. Hand signals are taught for communicating with the people manning the boat. Signal them to make a descent before sailing time lapses. A waiver form must be signed prior since it is a risky extreme sport.
